CCOI Sets the Stage for Global Ophthalmic Innovation at Stanford Summit

On the eve of the CCOI–Stanford Summit held on July 23, 2025, Dr. Joel S. Schuman outlined the evolution and broadened mission of the Collaborative Community on Ophthalmic Innovation (CCOI), noting that it had grown from 6 to 17 working groups spanning AI, interoperability, and disease-specific initiatives across glaucoma, AMD, diabetic retinopathy, and ocular oncology.
Operating as a nonprofit, CCOI brought together over 80 stakeholders—including academia, industry, regulators, clinicians, and patient advocates—into a unified ecosystem designed to advance ophthalmic medical product innovation through collaboration and consensus.
