PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye and the Collaborative Community on Ophthalmic Innovation Partner to Bring Oculomics into Mainstream Healthcare
LA JOLLA, CA AND RESTON, VA, October 14, 2025 - The Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye (AHE) and the Collaborative Community on Ophthalmic Innovation (CCOl) have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the global adoption of oculomics in healthcare, referred to as Healthcare from the Eye™. Together, they will elevate oculomics into a cornerstone of systemic healthcare, enabling earlier detection, better coordination, and improved outcomes for patients worldwide.
About the Organizations
The Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye (AHE) is a multi-stakeholder initiative that brings oculomics into practice by embedding ocular data and Al-driven analysis within coordinated care networks spanning eye care, primary care, and specialty medicine. Engaging providers, payers, industry, regulators, and patient advocates, AHE focuses on practical deployment for earlier risk identification, streamlined care coordination, and reduced burden of late-stage disease through secure and scalable use of data and technology.
The Collaborative Community on Ophthalmic Innovation (CCOl) is a global catalyst for accelerating the development and adoption of medical products. By uniting all stakeholders— patients, clinicians, researchers, regulators, and industry-CCOl provides a trusted forum to identify challenges, align strategies, and implement solutions that drive clinical innovation. Its mission is to remove barriers between breakthrough innovations and the patients who need them, unlocking the eye's potential to advance both ophthalmology and broader healthcare.
Oculomics: Seeing Beyond the Eye
Oculomics leverages the eye as a non-invasive, high-resolution window into the body's overall health. By analyzing retinal images and other ocular data, oculomics enables clinicians to identify risk of systemic conditions such as cardiovascular, renal, and neurologic conditions
before symptoms appear— enabling earlier intervention, better care coordination, and improved outcomes.
A Unified Framework for Responsible Innovation and Sustainable Care
AHE will focus on real-world implementation by leveraging data-driven analysis of ocular information and integrating oculomics into existing clinical workflows and care pathways. CCOl will establish the foundational frameworks needed for safe, effective, and globally scalable adoption. These will include criteria for image-acquisition to ensure data quality and consistency, reference endpoints for accurate assessment and sustainable reimbursement models.
Together AHE and CCOl will establish global standards to build disease registries that enable research and regulatory alignment, expand
reimbursement, and strengthen patient and provider education, ensuring oculomics is equitable, trusted, and accessible.
"This partnership marks a turning point in how we harness the eye to transform healthcare," said Malvina Eydelman, MD, CEO of CCOl. "By building the standards and frameworks for safe and scalable oculomics, we empower clinicians to detect systemic disease sooner and improve outcomes for patients worldwide."
"Uniting AHE's real-world implementation with CCOl's regulatory leadership, is a giant step toward mainstreaming oculomics in healthcare. This collaboration will ensure that oculomics innovations are clinically meaningful, scalable, and accessible to patients everywhere," said Ali Tafreshi, CEO & President of Topcon Healthcare Inc.
